Success for Derry clubs at Ulster Scór Sinsir
All roads led to Galbally on Saturday 15th October as Derry Gaels proudly represented their county in an outstanding 6 of the 8 disciplines in their Ulster Scór Sinsir final.
Having earned their place as Derry champions, they faced stiff competition in the Ulster Semi Final with the long trip to Stradone in Co. Cavan but performed excellently to progress to the Ulster decider. This was a significant achievement by Glenullin (Rince Seit & Bailéad Ghrúpa & Ceol Uirlise), Glen (Rince Foirne) and Castledawson (Amhránaíocht Aonair & Tráth na gCeist’/ Quiz) to reach this stage, with Glenullin (Rince Seit) and Glen (Rince Foirne) emerging victorious.
Despite the outstanding performances in the Tráth na gCeist’, Amhránaíocht Aonair, Bailéad Ghrúpa and Ceol Uirlise, it is the dancers of Glenullin and Glen who will progress to represent Derry and Ulster in the All-Ireland final in Castlebar, Mayo, on the 12th November.
Thug Gaeil Dhoire aghaidh ar an Ghallbhuaile ar an Satharn 15 Deireadh Fómhair le hionadaíochta dhéanamh ar a gcontae i 6 cinn de na 8 ndisciplíní i mbabhta ceannais Scór Sinsir Uladh.
I ndiaidh dóibh a n-áit a bhaint amach mar churaidh Dhoire, thug siad aghaidh ar iomaíocht ghéar i mBabhta Leathcheannais Uladh leis an turas fada go Srath an Domhain i gCo. an Chabháin ach rinne siad éacht le babhta ceannais Uladh a bhaint amach.
In ainneoin na sárthaispeántais i dTráth na gCeist’ agus Amhránaíocht Aonair (An Seanmhullach), Bailéad ghrúpa agus Ceol Uirlise (Gleann an Iolair), is iad na rinceoirí ó Ghleann an Iolair agus ón Ghleann a rachaidh chun cinn chun ionadaíocht a dhéanamh ar Dhoire agus Uladh i mbabhta ceannais na hÉireann i gCaisleán an Bharraigh, Maigh Eo, ar an 12ú lá Samhain.
