Derry U20 footballers reach Ulster semi-final

Derry’s Under-20s were comfortable in Roslea on Wednesday night en route to a quarter-final win in the Ulster Championship.

Game recap

Fermanagh 0-8 Derry 3-12

Ruairi Forbes’ clinical finish after just seven minutes kickstarted the Oak Leaf challenge against Fermanagh and they never looked like relinquishing the lead.

Lachlan Murray added a second goal just before half-time to ensure Derry held a nine-point lead at the break (0-3 to 2-6).

The visitors were comfortable in the second-half with the scoreboard boosted by a Matthew Downey penalty, midway through the second period. Downey top-scored with 1-6 on the night.

Marty Boyle’s team will now face Donegal in the Ulster semi-final (date/venue TBC).
