Derry GAA clubs have been leading the way in their respective communities during the Covid-19 pandemic in the last few weeks.
They have been initiating fundraising campaigns, donating to local charitable groups and providing their services, facilities and time in order to support their local community during this difficult time. Check out some of them below.
If your club has a similar story to tell, please let us know!
“If anyone in the Parish, club member or not need any groceries bought or prescriptions collected in the coming weeks please send us a message and we’ll be happy to help.
Please share this message and pass message on to anyone that you can think of or anyone that may be in isolation by themselves, particularly some of our older / vulnerable residents of the parish.”
“We are providing food box deliveries to the over 70 and vulnerable within Ballymaguigan. They will receive a parcel and roast dinner for the next 5 weeks. We are also collecting groceries/ prescriptions/ other essential supplies and offering friendly phone call to anyone feeling lonely or in need of a chat.”
“Our club has linked in with Hillcrest Trust, the main community group, who are co-ordinating the community response in the Top of the Hill area and the various groups who are looking to help. They are working with the local Centra shop and pharmacist to ensure deliveries, medication etc is provided where necessary.”
