Facilities and Logistics Manager
Derry GAA – Facilities and Logistics Manager
Derry GAA is seeking applications for the new full-time post of Facilities and Logistics Manager, supporting our intercounty squads across football and hurling at minor, U20 and senior level.
This new role centralises the logistics of our teams, the management of our county facilities and the maintenance of our playing surfaces. The successful candidate will develop an annual logistics plan and manage our relationships with suppliers and contractors. Their job is to make sure our venues, equipment, events and travel arrangements fully support Derry GAA teams.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the postholder will:
- plan and book all team travel, producing a travel plan for fixtures, and organise the logistics of team events
- plan the year’s logistics calendar against fixtures, training schedules and venue availability, acting as the single point of contact for each team’s nominated liaison
- produce and manage the pitch and facilities rota, and establish and manage a pitch maintenance programme with groundsmen and contractors
- ensure Find Insurance Owenbeg and Celtic Park are clean, safe and ready for use, managing maintenance, service contracts, contractors and capital improvement projects
- lead venue preparation, stewarding, security and event operations on match days, with health and safety compliance across county venues
- manage logistics and facilities budgets, and provide regular updates to the County Facilities and Infrastructure Committee
The role is based at Find Insurance Owenbeg, with regular time at Celtic Park. It is a full-time post of around 40 hours a week that follows the training and match schedule, so working hours are primarily evenings and weekends. The salary is competitive and negotiable.
Applicants should have a relevant qualification in facilities, operations, construction or sports management. They should also have at least three years’ experience in logistics, travel, events, hospitality, operations or facilities management. Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, along with confidence in dealing with service providers and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience within sport or hospitality, a recognised health and safety qualification, and experience of grounds or pitch management are desirable. A full driving licence and own transport are required.
To apply, send a CV and cover letter to operations.derry@gaa.ie, where further queries can also be directed. The closing date is Friday 13th November at 5pm.
