O’Hara and O’Reilly strikes set Drum on road victory.

Goals immediately before and after half-time from Ryan O’Hara and Kevin O’Reilly proved the decisive scores of a one-sided GbS Scaffolding Junior Football Championship decider at Celtic Park.

Ardmore actually started quite sharply and led 0-2 to 0-1 early but Drum soon established superiority.

Had Barry Gormley’s penalty found the net rather than the strong palm of Eunan O’Hara things might have been different but that save proved the catalyst for the Gortnaghey men’s victory. With Conor O’Reilly sharp in attack Drum stepped the pace up and were 0-8 to 0-3 in front when Ryan O’Hara sent an Exocet of a shot to the top corner from a narrow angle on the cusp of half-time.

Trailing 1-8 to 0-3 Ardmore needed to make a sharp start to the second half but when Kevin O’Reilly latched on to a breaking ball and lashed it past Eoin Mailey the only thing in question was Drum’s margin of victory.

In fairness Ardmore persevered and pulled a goal back when Barry Gormley attuned for his earlier miss by finding the bottom corner from a penalty. But with Conor O’Reilly kicking some superb scores Drum were never under threat.
